Night on Carousel

On one morning, my friend told me that she accompanied her mother to the hospital for her first chemotherapy. Qodarullah she suffered from ovarium cancer and knew the diagnose a few weeks ago.

I saw her puffy eyes, maybe she cried all night because of her mother and I don’t need to ask no more. Maybe she also cried for another reason that I will share the story.

She told me while they were waiting, there are other patients too. She looked at them one by one, there was a woman who has colon cancer and the doctor put something like bag on her stomach so she can defecate through that bag. There was also a little girl that part of her nose has been damaged by tumor, but she still runs and laughs cheerfully with her parents. There are also patients who cover their head because of their hair loss after the chemotherapy.

The patient who right next to her mom is a young woman and she suffered from breast cancer. Her body is thin, her skin is pale and her hair is loss but her beauty is still a crystal clear. Her husband visited her at noon after picking up the children from school. Her husband still looks young and handsome, if we look quite carefully we will know that their family are well of.

My friend told me “all this time when we get a problem, we complain right away. As if our lives are the hardest, but in reality there are so many people out there who get bigger problem than us but they still positive and accept it sincerely. We are not grateful.” And I completely agreed.

The health is one thing that we should be grateful for, and we often take health for granted. Allah can easily take our health regardless of whether young or old, beautiful/handsome or not, rich or poor. It’s all easy for Him.

In Qur’an Surah Al Infithar, 82:6, Allah said:

“O mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Lord, the Generous,”

We always thinking that something to be grateful is what we have got and visible to us, but we are not being grateful for something we don’t have. Maybe in fact, we got it but we can't see it.

Or is not because we can’t see it, but we deceived!
